Tim Stemwedel, President
Tim graduated with a BS degree from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, California in 1972, and completed his graduate studies at Fresno State. Tim has spent his entire career working in the agricultural chemical and fertilizer sector. Tim founded COFI™ in 1990 and has continued to develop and market inputs for organic agriculture. Tim’s experience in conventional agriculture has helped COFI™ develop products compatible with large-scale organic production. As a biologist, Tim believes that the key to quality organic crop production is the use of fertilizers that are highly compatible with the Soil Food Web. Tim is fluent in Spanish.
Chick Gardiner, Sales Manager
Chick graduated with a BS degree from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, California in 1978. Chick is a licensed Pest Control Advisor and Certified Crop Advisor. Chick, having farmed and consulted a variety of commodities from vegetables to botanical pesticide trees in California and Mexico, brings hands-on experience to organic fertilizer and pesticide sales. In the 1980's, he worked on staff as a Pest Control Advisor and Operator for a farm management company. Chick has worked in sales for the past 20 years. His days are now spent working with farmers, dealers/distributors and consultants in the sales/marketing of organic farming inputs. Chick is fluent in Spanish.
Jim Verner, Sales Manager, Northwest
After graduating from the University of Arizona, Jim obtained a graduate degree in International Business at The Gavin School of International Management in 1967. Living and working abroad (Latin America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East), Jim managed international fertilizer companies and experienced agricultural practices in a wide variety of climates and soils in both conventional and organic production. He specialized in ways to control plant stress and to overcome salinity problems, and has written a number of articles for agricultural magazines and made special presentations to fertilizer producers and conventions on these topics. Jim is fluent in Spanish.
